Check card acceptance, authentication, fees and withdrawal options, and find out what to do when a betting deposit is declined or missing.

Before funding a betting account with Visa or Mastercard, check three things: whether the cashier accepts your particular card, whether your bank will approve the transaction, and how you can withdraw later. A card logo does not answer all three.
This guide covers card payments. For bank-account payments, use the instant EFT guide or PayShap Request guide. The payments overview helps compare these with vouchers.
Read the current deposit menu for your account. Confirm the card network and type: debit, credit, virtual or prepaid. Do not assume that support for one type includes the others, or that a card accepted by one operator will work at another.
As a documented example, Supabets' payment page lists credit/cheque cards as a category. That is evidence of an advertised method, not a test of every Visa or Mastercard, a complete acceptance list, or a claim about the current minimum deposit.
Use your own card and account. If your registered name differs from your card or banking record, ask the operator how to resolve it before paying. Do not use someone else's card to get around a restriction. Choose an amount within your budget; do not borrow money to gamble.
Visa Secure helps the card issuer authenticate online transactions at participating merchants. Visa describes checks such as a one-time passcode or biometrics when extra verification is needed. Not every payment necessarily presents the same challenge; the available options depend on the issuer.
For either Visa or Mastercard, follow your own bank's authentication instructions. A completed identity check is not proof that the operator has credited your betting balance. Check the cashier confirmation and transaction history as well.
Never send an OTP, banking password or card security code to a support agent. Enter card details only in the verified checkout flow. A message asking you to disclose those details to “release winnings” should be checked directly with your bank and operator through their official channels.
For a bank-specific example, Capitec's card guidance directs customers to check online purchase limits and explains that virtual-card limits can be managed in its app. This describes card controls, not approval of a particular gambling transaction. Do not raise a limit beyond your planned spending or bypass a bank restriction.
Check bank charges separately from operator charges. A cashier displaying a zero deposit fee does not establish how your issuer will classify the payment or whether conversion or international processing applies.
For example, Capitec's 2026 fee page distinguishes South African card purchases from international online processing. Read the applicable product tariff and footnotes; the treatment of an ordinary local purchase should not be assumed for every betting transaction. Ask your issuer about a charge you cannot identify.
Before confirming, compare the cashier's currency and amount with the bank approval screen. Keep both records if they differ. Fees and exchange-rate treatment are account- and transaction-specific; this guide does not give a universal card-deposit price.
Start with the error message and check whether money was actually taken. A decline, a pending bank entry and a successful deposit with a missing wallet credit need different follow-up.
If a debit or pending amount appears, ask the bank what its status means and ask the operator to trace the reference before making another payment. Do not assume a second attempt will cancel the first. Our missing-deposit guide covers the support evidence to keep.
Check the withdrawal menu before depositing. Ask whether winnings can return to the card or require another method, whose name the payout account must be in, and which verification documents are needed. Deposit support alone does not confirm card payouts.
If the card expires or is replaced, notify the operator through its official support channel and ask for the required ownership checks. A refund of a deposit and a withdrawal of winnings are different requests; do not assume they have the same route or timing. For an unauthorised transaction, contact your bank promptly and describe the facts accurately.
Keep card images and statements out of public messages. If official support needs proof of ownership, request its secure upload instructions and clarify which fields must be visible. Do not disclose the security code or an OTP. See the withdrawal guide for further payout checks.
Can I use any Visa or Mastercard for a betting deposit? No universal acceptance is established here. Check the operator's supported card types, your account eligibility and your issuer's rules before paying.
Does 3-D Secure approval mean my betting balance has updated? No. Authentication and wallet credit are separate checks. Confirm the deposit result and the operator's transaction history.
Why does my card work in shops but fail online? Check online-payment settings, limits and authentication with your issuer. The operator may also restrict the card type or require account verification.
Are card deposits free? Compare the operator's displayed charge with your issuer's current tariff, including applicable international or currency-conversion treatment.
Can I withdraw to the card I used to deposit? Confirm this with your operator before paying. Card deposits do not automatically establish card withdrawals, and ownership or verification checks may apply.
